Tax‑Smart Ways to Give

Gifts of Appreciated Stock

Giving appreciated securities held more than 12 months may offer a two-fold tax savings.  First, you may avoid paying capital-gains tax on the increase in the value of your stock. In addition, you may receive a tax deduction for the full fair market value of the stock on the date of your gift. Subtracting the tax savings from what you originally paid for the stock can result in a gift that costs pennies on the dollar. Please consult your financial advisor for more information.

Please provide the following to your broker to make a gift to Baltimore Clayworks:

It is important that you notify Baltimore Clayworks when your request is completed. Contact Matt Hyleck at 410-578-1919 x220 or email Matt.Hyleck@baltimoreclayworks.org.
