Studio Artist Rental Programs

Baltimore Clayworks offers multiple ways to rent studio space, including: Open Studio, Springboard, and Mezzanine membership.

Open Studio

Open Studio allows our more advanced students to work autonomously with access to our classroom equipment and facilities. We require that you have been enrolled in at least one previous class at Clayworks prior to your enrollment in this program. Registration for this program includes 4 weeks of classroom space from the first to the final day of each month, shared shelving, and free bisque firing. Clay fees are additional and student rates for glaze firing apply.

You may use any of our three classrooms with the understanding that all scheduled classes, workshops, and clay parties have first priority to the space.

If you are interested in our Open Studio program, please contact our Director of Education, Kevin Rohde at 410.578.1919 x219 or by e-mail at kevin.rohde@baltimoreclayworks.org.

Springboard

Baltimore Clayworks’ Springboard program is a non-juried studio rental providing a communal space for ceramic artists at any skill level to work side by side. The program provides dedicated studio work space with access to our classroom equipment and facilities.

The monthly fee for this program includes access to the Springboard studio; a key to the Studio Building giving you 24 hour access, 7 days a week; 2.5 shelves (2 Springboard members per shelving unit); and bisque firings at ^08.

All Springboard members must provide a 30-day written notice by the last day of the month before leaving the program.
Space is limited. Entry into Springboard will be based on first-come first-serve; all others will be put on a waiting list. Once enrolled, members may stay in the program so long as they adhere to the contract and pay the monthly fee.
Baltimore Clayworks reserves the right to remove any Springboard member at any time based on non-compliance to contract, unpaid rent, disruptive behavior or encroaching on other members’ shelves.

If you are interested in our Springboard program, email rebecca.morton@baltimoreclayworks.org.

Mezzanine Artist

The Mezzanine Artist program is designed for artists who require a dedicated studio space and have the necessary skills to work independently. Mezzanine artists are provided with a semi private 6’ x 8’ studio space, one shelving unit, a potters wheel (if desired), and 24/7 key access. Mezzanine Artists have access to all studio equipment and are expected to load and fire their own work per our “Current Student” fee schedule.

If you are interested in our Mezzanine program, please email rebecca.morton@baltimoreclayworks.org.
