Celebrate Global Day of Clay With Baltimore Clayworks
You're invited to On the Map, a community party celebrating Global Day of Clay with Baltimore Clayworks on October 10th, 2018 from 4-7pm.
On The Map marks Baltimore Clayworks' one-year re-opening anniversary and will include a street naming ceremony at 4:30pm. We will honor civic leaders and donors who supported Baltimore Clayworks, as well as students, volunteers, and partners who continue to be integral to the Clayworks community.
One year since re-opening its doors, Baltimore’s internationally known ceramic arts center is thriving. In recognition of this success, Clayworks’ street will be renamed Clayworks Way, a fitting signal that Baltimore Clayworks is firmly On The Map and here to stay in its historic Mt. Washington home.
Celebration events will include displays from summer campers, students, and community arts groups, and tours of the studios and galleries. Light refreshments and a special On The Map cake will be served in the gallery building.
As part of the Global Day of Clay, earlier in the day Baltimore Clayworks’ artists will introduce elementary school students from several Baltimore neighborhoods to the joy of clay with demos, studio tours, and hands-on mini-workshops.
Information on Global Day of Clay events throughout the world is available on the #GlobalDayofClay website. Many other clay centers and schools in our region are also participating in the Global Day of Clay, including the following:
