Baltimore Clayworks celebrates the beauty and versatility of clay and its ability to be a catalyst for building community with the exhibition We Are Clay. The exhibition will be used as a vehicle to inspire a new wave of teachers by offering free ceramic workshops for non-clay artists and community leaders thereby enhancing our instructor pool while adding a tangible, expressive element to their own community engagement. Exhibition runs through January 30,2021.

We are Clay was chosen as a theme to encompass the richness and resilience of the material. This title illustrates the possibilities and pliability in clay, its endurance and strength once transformed by the firing process, how it inhabits our daily rituals and the potent stories it can tell. In addition, it comes in so many shades, from porcelain to terracotta that echoes the diverse population that makes our country vibrant and beautiful. This exhibition illustrates that while we may come from different places, we share a commonality. A universal language of ceramics proving that art and creativity can bring us together and all are welcome. This exhibition features artists of all races, languages or orientations that reflect the population of Baltimore and our nation, inspiring the next generation of makers, demonstrating that their artistic voice matters and deserves a platform to be seen. This show will demonstrate the connectivity of ceramic expression and our organizations commitment to being more inclusive on many levels. We Are Clay Artists: Maria Aldrete, Paul Briggs, Wes Brown, Aaron Caldwell, Connor Czoro, Ana Maria Economou, April Felipe, Donte Hayes, Gunyoung Kim, Rob Kolhouse, Emily Lamb, Roberto Lugo, Kyungmin Park, Hannah Pierce, Ashlyn Pope, Jenny Reed, George Rodriguez, Angelique Scott, Josh Van Stippen and Victoria Walton.
