Riding Long Dead Horses: Trisha Kyner

February 18, 2018 @ 8:00 am February 28, 2018 @ 5:00 pm

The Back Room of the Main Gallery will showcase a solo installation by Trisha Kyner called Riding Long Dead Horses. There will be three half-sized figures  astride an empty saddle, looking off into the distance. “I wanted them marked by the land, the journey.  I was thinking about my own family myths, the grain of truth and toughness, as well as how false pride and privilege had shaped our stories. I was thinking about escapes and reinventions, but I also wanted to engage in a bit of mockery and re-evaluation of myth.”

Trisha Kyner is an Assistant Professor of Art at the Community College of Baltimore County. As a figurative sculptor her work has been shown at Grounds for Sculpture in New Jersey, NCECA, the Legion of Honor Museum in San Francisco, the National Gallery of Art in Mumbai, India, and the California Conference for the Advancement of Ceramic Art.  Ms. Kyner holds a B.F.A. for the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and an M.F.A. from the University of Montana. She lives and works in a converted grocery store in Woodlawn, MD, and is an Associate Artist at Baltimore Clayworks.
