Baltimore Clayworks: A Vibrant Presence at NCECA 2024 in Richmond

Baltimore Clayworks made waves at the National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts (NCECA) conference held in Richmond, VA, where the ceramic community converged for a celebration of art, creativity, and collaboration. As an exhibitor in the Gallery Expo and a provider of valuable resources at our dedicated table, Baltimore Clayworks showcased its commitment to fostering artistic dialogue and supporting emerging talent.

Our presence at NCECA was multifaceted, featuring engaging activities such as live Artist Talks by our resident artists, Jai Sallay-Carrington and Wyaman Scott. These talks provided attendees with an intimate look into the creative processes and inspirations behind their remarkable work, enriching the overall experience for visitors to the Gallery Expo. You can watch the recording of these Live Artist Talks on our Instagram.

Moreover, Baltimore Clayworks was honored to have many of our dedicated staff and talented artists in attendance, further solidifying our connection to the vibrant ceramic community. It was a testament to our collective passion for the art form and our unwavering dedication to pushing the boundaries of creativity.

Participating in NCECA not only allowed Baltimore Clayworks to showcase our work on a national stage but also provided a platform for networking, learning, and growth. One of the highlights of our time at NCECA was the opportunity to connect with fellow artists, including Kelly and Kyle Phelps, who serve as jurors for our current Call for Entry for the upcoming exhibition, “Isms: Narratives, Issues, and Difficult Topics of Our Time.”

As we reflect on our time at NCECA 2024, we are grateful for the opportunity to engage with fellow artists, share our passion for ceramics, and contribute to the vibrant tapestry of the ceramic community. Baltimore Clayworks remains committed to pushing the boundaries of artistic expression, fostering creativity, and nurturing the next generation of ceramic artists.
