There’s something magical about a room filled with creativity, conversation, and community. On Saturday, March 22, 2025, Baltimore Clayworks opened its doors for an evening celebrating three new exhibitions: Together Again at the Table, Lines and Patterns, and the Community Arts Spring Showcase. Our galleries were alive with visitors, friends, collectors, artists, and neighbors – all eager to engage with the work and one another.
The evening kicked off in our main gallery with Together Again at the Table, a Dinner Set and Service Ware Invitational featuring a stellar lineup of nationally recognized ceramic artists. There was a sense of warmth as guests explored beautifully crafted dinnerware sets, tea services, and serving pieces. Each artist’s work offered a unique interpretation of functional pottery, celebrating the ritual of gathering and sharing meals.

In our Solo Gallery space, Lines and Patterns showcased the work of former Lormina Salter Fellowship recipients. Curated by Sam Briegel (’20) and Yoshi Fujii (’08), the exhibition was a visual feast of intricate surface treatments and thoughtful forms. Viewers were drawn in by the delicate linework and rhythmic designs that danced across each piece. This exhibition, the first in a three-part series, gave us a glimpse into the threads of inspiration and mentorship that weave through the Baltimore Clayworks community.
Perhaps one of the most joyful moments of the evening took place in the Community Arts Gallery, where we proudly presented our Community Arts Spring Showcase. From vibrant sculptures to expressive vessels, the showcase demonstrated how creativity flourishes when art is accessible to all. It was a reminder of Baltimore Clayworks’ mission to foster belonging and build connections through clay.

Throughout the evening, guests mingled with the exhibiting artists, sharing stories, asking questions, and learning more about the processes behind each piece. The conversations were as rich and layered as the work itself.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to our generous exhibition sponsors – Ase Design Studio, Baltimore Blossoms, The Wine Collective, and Union Craft Brewery – for their invaluable support in making this evening so special. Their contributions helped create a warm and welcoming atmosphere, from the stunning floral arrangements by Baltimore Blossoms to the beautifully designed furniture by Ase Design Studio. Guests enjoyed exceptional wines provided by The Wine Collective and craft brews from Union Craft Brewery, adding to the celebratory spirit of the night. We are grateful for their partnership and commitment to fostering creativity and community at Baltimore Clayworks.
This opening reception marked the start of an exciting season at Baltimore Clayworks. If you missed the event, don’t worry! These exhibitions will be on view through May 24, 2025. We invite you to stop by, take a slow walk through the galleries, and experience the beauty of craftsmanship, pattern, and community for yourself.
