On August 13th, Baltimore Clayworks had the privilege of participating in National Night Out, a nationwide event that fosters community engagement and safety. Our celebration took place in the Western High School parking lot, where the sounds of laughter, conversation, and creativity filled the air. From 4:00 to 7:00 pm, families, friends, and community members came together to enjoy an evening dedicated to art, connection, and the vibrant spirit of Baltimore.
The evening was a resounding success, highlighting the power of creativity to bring people together. At our booth, attendees had the opportunity to get their hands dirty creating clay pendants for necklaces, experiencing firsthand the joy of creating something unique. From children creating shapes using cookie cutters to adults rediscovering their artistic sides, the atmosphere was one of exploration and fun.
Vandyln and Jane Walsh were on hand to guide participants, offering tips, encouragement, and inspiration. Their energy, enthusiasm, and dedication were felt in every interaction whether assisting participants or simply sharing a smile, their contributions were invaluable. We are deeply grateful to everyone who volunteered their time and talents.
As we reflect on this year’s National Night Out, we are reminded of the importance of community art programs. They are not just about creating beautiful pieces but also about building connections, fostering inclusivity, and creating spaces where everyone feels welcome. At Baltimore Clayworks, we are committed to continuing this work, and we look forward to more opportunities to engage with our community through creative, meaningful events.
