Donation Acceptance Policy

Gifts We Regretfully Cannot Accept

Baltimore Clayworks deeply values the generosity of our community and the spirit of giving that sustains our mission. To ensure that all contributions support our goals and uphold our integrity, we must respectfully decline certain types of gifts. These include:

  • Gifts that do not align with our mission and core values, including those that conflict with our commitment to equity, inclusion, and artistic excellence.
  • Gifts that could jeopardize our tax-exempt status, such as those with conditions that violate IRS regulations or nonprofit governance standards.
  • Gifts that are too difficult or costly to administer, including those requiring extensive maintenance, legal oversight, or specialized handling beyond our capacity.
  • Gifts intended for purposes outside our strategic goals, especially those that divert resources from our core programs and community impact.
  • Gifts that could potentially harm our reputation, including those associated with controversial entities or activities.
  • Gifts with overly restrictive conditions, particularly when the designated program is no longer active or the restrictions prevent reasonable use of the funds.

We are incredibly grateful for every donor’s intention to support our work. Your understanding of these guidelines helps us remain focused, transparent, and effective in serving our community through the ceramic arts. Thank you for being a vital part of our journey and for helping Baltimore Clayworks thrive.
