The Baltimore Clayworks Collection, based in Mount Washington, came to Digital Maryland primarily as a scanning project, with most of the metadata already prepared and ready to use. The collection documents over four decades of ceramic arts, community programming, and organizational growth in Baltimore.
Founded in 1980 by nine artists, Baltimore Clayworks has remained committed to supporting ceramic artists while engaging the public through exhibitions, classes, and community-based arts education.
The collection includes photographs, event flyers, newsletters, press materials, catalogs, and internal documents—highlighting the organization’s evolution, its role in nurturing artists, and its impact on the broader community. It’s a valuable resource for anyone interested in the intersection of craft, community, and contemporary ceramics in the Mid-Atlantic region.
