“A space for all.” That’s the meaning behind our Baltimore Clayworks 45th anniversary logo.
Just as a kiln carefully holds ceramic art, test tiles, and pottery while fire transforms them into something beautiful, Baltimore Clayworks creates space for each of us to discover and develop our creative spark. Your contribution is what makes Baltimore Clayworks a sanctuary for creativity in Baltimore.
As we look ahead to 2026 and beyond, we’re working toward our $200,000 winter fundraising goal to keep our kilns burning bright. Your generous support helps us continue creating space for creativity in our community.
2025 has marked a year of natural reflection and growth. The 2025-2028 Strategic Plan was adopted and since then, on top of our class and exhibition schedule, we’ve invested significantly in our facilities: our beautiful historic buildings got a fresh, protective coat of paint, extensive slate roof repairs, and while costly, much-needed wood and masonry reinforcement, we restored the Nurturing Nature fountain, and installed the new Gathering Ground garden. We opened our doors in celebration of spring by welcoming everyone to the Galleries so we could be “Together Again at the Table”, the first of 14 free and open exhibitions.
Among the highlights of the year was the Garden Party Gala and Earthenworks Community Day. This day was truly special as it embodied all of our core values: artist-centeredness, excellence, inclusivity, integrity, and joy. It was not just an event – it was a celebration of the vision of our nine founders, that ceramic arts should be available to everyone, regardless of age, background, or experience.
None of this would have been possible without friends like you who believe in the power of clay to transform lives and shape the community. Your donation today to Baltimore Clayworks not only supports countless moments of accessible and authentic arts experiences for learners of all backgrounds and abilities, but you’re also investing in our:
- 2,898 studio registrations for classes, camps, and open studio access
- 329 Community Arts classes with 50 partner groups reaching 1,545 youth and seniors of different abilities and backgrounds
- 6,750 guests who were welcomed in our Gallery and Shop
- 28 new virtual artist talks, for a total of 75 videos, that were viewed more than 5,950 times
- 9 Lormina Salter Fellowship alumni who taught classes, workshops, virtual talks, and curated and participated in the 2025 exhibitions
- 283 artists, whose work and diverse narratives were given a platform in our Gallery exhibitions and on-line and brick-and-mortar Shops
- 36 scholarships that were awarded this year. Financial barriers remain, and we must expand support to meet this need.
There is no simpler way to say this – none of this would be possible without your support. You are part of a community that requires investment and care. We need your creative thinking, dedication, and generosity to continue to provide meaningful programming. Your donation today ensures our future success, that we may continue to attract world-class ceramic artists to teach engaging clay classes, to provide our audience with free and accessible exhibitions and virtual artist talks, and place clay into the hands of thousands of individuals seeking a creative outlet. Your general contribution directly supports scholarships, community arts, artist residencies, the EMBARC fellowship, our Taiwan artist exchange and all the programs you know and love.
, thank you for being such an essential part of our ever-growing family. We can’t wait to welcome you back to our campus so that you can see how your generosity is making room for others to discover the joy you know so well.
With gratitude and warm regards,
