Baltimore Clayworks Partners with SunLife to Bring Summer Art Kits to Local Communities

This summer, Baltimore Clayworks is proud to partner with SunLife to bring the joy of creativity to people across Baltimore through our Summer Art Kits for Community Arts Sites. Thanks to SunLife’s generous $1,500 contribution, we’ve been able to assemble and distribute 100 art kits to four incredible community partners who are making a lasting impact in our city.

What’s Inside the Kits

Each art kit is designed to inspire imagination and hands-on creativity. Kits include:

  • 1 lb of air-dry clay and a one-page guide for basic pottery projects
  • Assorted clay tools for sculpting and shaping
  • Sketchbook (8.5” x 11) for drawing and planning ideas
  • Crayola supplies: crayons, colored pencils, washable watercolors, and ultra-clean markers
  • Essential drawing and crafting tools: pencils, erasers, glue sticks, kids’ scissors, and sharpeners

With these supplies, young artists can explore different mediums building skills, confidence, and self-expression throughout the summer.

Community Partners Receiving Kits

We’re thrilled to deliver these art kits to four organizations deeply committed to supporting Baltimore residents:

  • House of Ruth Maryland: Leading the fight to end violence against women and their children while providing critical services to help survivors rebuild their lives safely and fear-free.
  • St. Francis Neighborhood Center: The city’s oldest continuously operating neighborhood center, enriching Baltimore communities for generations.
  • MJ Housing Services at Mayflower Apartments: Enhancing the lives of seniors and families living in affordable housing communities nationwide.
  • B-SPIRIT-A²Y: A long-standing afterschool tutoring and mentoring program dedicated to empowering African American youth in Baltimore.

Creativity with a Purpose

Access to art supplies is more than just fun, it’s transformative. These kits give people a chance to explore creativity, relieve stress, and strengthen community bonds. By removing barriers to artistic resources, we’re making it possible for everyone to experience the therapeutic and joyful benefits of making art.

This project would not have been possible without the support of SunLife, whose generous contribution fully funded the creation and distribution of these kits. Together, we’re helping to spark creativity, inspire confidence, and support healing through the arts.
