Asma, a multidisciplinary artist with Pakistani roots, resides in Ellicott City, Maryland, where she balances her roles as an artist and a mother to four children. Her work delves into themes of identity, heritage, and the ongoing journey of self-expression, informed by the complexities of her background and the experiences of motherhood. She holds a Bachelor’s in Education from West Virginia University and later pursued her passion for ceramics with a Master’s degree from Hood College in Maryland. Asma is earning her MFA in Studio Art at the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA). Her talent and commitment to her art have earned her several awards, including the prestigious Leslie King Hammond Graduate Fellowship from MICA, the Windgate University Fellowship from Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts, and the NCECA Graduate Fellowship Award. As an NCECA, she showcases her work prominently across the nation. Currently, she is serving as student director at large at NCECA.
