Baltimore Clayworks was proud to participate in the 4th Annual George “Spider” Anderson Music & Arts Festival, hosted by Park Heights Renaissance on Saturday, May 10, 2025. Held at the bustling intersection of Park Heights and Oakley Avenues, this free, family-friendly event welcomed hundreds of neighbors and visitors to celebrate the legacy of a local legend and the enduring creativity of the Park Heights community.

Named in honor of George “Spider” Anderson, the first Black jockey to win the Preakness Stakes in 1889, the festival serves as a powerful tribute to the man who shaped American racing. Now officially kicking off the Preakness 150 Festival, the celebration is guided by Maryland’s First Ladies Dawn Moore and Hana Scott, and brings together the energy of local history, art, and culture in one joyful, affirming experience.
Baltimore Clayworks joined artists, vendors, and performers in bringing hands-on arts programming to the heart of Park Heights. Our interactive clay station invited guests of all ages to explore their creativity through ceramics. Festivalgoers were able to learn about the magic of clay and our year-round programs in Mt. Washington, while taking home their own handmade pieces as keepsakes from the day.

The Spider Anderson Festival was an inspiring example of what happens when community, legacy, and imagination come together. Baltimore Clayworks is grateful to Park Heights Renaissance for the invitation and honored to be part of a movement that centers history, community, joy, and artistic expression.
Whether you joined us in person with your lawn chair and blanket or tuned in via livestream, we thank you for helping to make this event unforgettable. We look forward to continuing to build with our neighbors across Baltimore and beyond, one clay creation at a time.
