Thought Signs
Shalya Marsh Solo Exhibition

Baltimore, Maryland – June 23- August 4, 2012-  Baltimore Clayworks is proud to host Thought Signs: Shalya Marsh Solo Exhibition. This exhibition features Marsh’s work from her past year as the Lormina Salter Fellowship Artist. Opening Reception is Saturday June 23, 2012 from 6-8pm. This event is free and open to the public.

Through an exploration of decipherable codes and symbols, Shalya Marsh’s work expresses the intrinsic limitation language places on communication.  Her sculptures reference illuminated manuscripts, ancient cuneiforms, and primitive accounting systems.  These archaic systems of recording information are juxtaposed with modern codes and ciphers such as binary, substitution, and Morse.
