Baltimore Clayworks is proud to host East Meets West Meets East an exhibition featuring Baltimore Clayworks’ resident artist Yoshi Fujii and our Taiwan-exchange resident artist Chiao Feng Shen. Showcased in our Solo Gallery, East Meets West Meets East focuses on the work made by the artists during their residency exchange. This exhibition runs March 5th-April 16th, 2011 with an opening reception on Saturday, March 5th, from 6 to 8 pm. Admission is free.

East Meets West Meets East features work made during an artist exchange between Baltimore Clayworks and Tainan National University of the Arts in Tainan, Taiwan, R.O.C. Yoshi Fujii spent the past Fall at the university mentoring students, making and exhibiting work. Chiao-Feng Shen is our current exchange resident artist, arriving in October she has spent an intensive time in our studio, making work and firing our wood-kiln, all culminating in this exhibition.  Baltimore Clayworks is fortunate to have a relationship with Tainan National University of the Arts offering our residents to opportunity to study and create in Taiwan, absorbing the art, landscape and hospitality.  Graduates of the university come to Baltimore for an artistic American experience.  This diverse cultural exchange is a rich and rewarding encounter for all involved.
