This 12-week class is a wrap-around survey of basic throwing on the potters’ wheel plus hand-building/sculpture, with lots of decorative surface techniques for both! The class is for students who have little or no experience in clay, but all are welcome. Two experienced instructors will team-up to teach this class in their respective areas of expertise to provide twice the instruction. Examples of projects could include many types of handles for all kinds of cups, special glaze applications and under-glaze decoration, burnishing /pit-firing, and carving - on projects as diverse as tableware, clay ocarinas, bird feeders and more. The instructors promise a playful, whimsical and relaxed environment where learning in clay is fun! This course will combine 6 weeks of hand-building and 6 weeks of potter’s wheel methods.
